Stephanie Barbé Hammer is a poet, magical realist fiction writer, novelist, and essayist. She is the author of the collection How Formal (Spout Hill Press, 2014) and the chapbooks City Slicker (Pelekinesis, 2022) and Sex with Buildings (Dancing Girl Press, 2012). Her latest novel, Pretend Plumber, was published by Inlandia Institute in 2022. A seven-time Pushcart Prize nominee, her work has appeared in Hayden's Ferry, Pearl, CRATE, Rhapsodia, NYCBigCityLit, Inlandia, and the Bellevue Literary Review among other places. She is a retired teacher of comparative literature and creative writing at UC Riverside and Inlandia Institute.
